1999

July 8, 1999...Florida
Electrocution
"Before he was pronounced dead ... the blood from his mouth had poured onto the collar of his white shirt, and the blood on his chest had spread to about the size of a dinner plate, even oozing through the buckle holes on the leather chest strap holding him to the chair." His execution was the first in Florida's new electric chair, built especially so it could accommodate a man Davis's size (approximately 350 pounds). Later, when another Florida death row inmate challenged the constitutionality of the electric chair, Florida Supreme Court Justice Leander Shaw commented that "the color photos of Davis depict a man who -- for all appearances -- was brutally tortured to death by the citizens of Florida." Justice Shaw also described the botched executions of Jesse Tafero and Pedro Medina (q.v.), calling the three executions "barbaric spectacles" and "acts more befitting a violent murderer than a civilized state." Justice Shaw included pictures of Davis's dead body in his opinion. The execution was witnessed by a Florida State Senator, Ginny Brown-Waite, who at first was "shocked" to see the blood, until she realized that the blood was forming the shape of a cross and that it was a message from God saying he supported the execution.

I bet blood poured from the woman and her children when this sick fuck killed them too. Brutal torture is what he deserved. Too bad it didn't last for hours.

Actually the blood came from his nose. When they put the chin strap on hos face it was pushed up to far and caused one of his nostrils to bleed. The medical examiner even stated that he was suffocatin before the execution ever took place

i still say that this panty waist injections are much too good for these pieces of shit that are executed in the united states today, a hanging or electrocution is much better, but still much too good for them. they(criminals have no compassion whatsoever for their victims and most of the ones that i interviewed while working in the prison system took great pleasure in ending human life, and now, the public thinks that we need to be more humane for these pieces of shit. either hang them or fry them. and if it requires more than once, that is ok too.

Just because the criminal acts in a barbaric way, why go we need to stoop to that level too? Why devalue human life? It doesn't do anything, it's all about revenge. Killing promotes killing, all the death penalty does is show that it's ok to kill under certain circumstances when it's not.

Abolish the death penalty, it's not the middle ages, the state should not behave in the same way as the murderer otherwise nothing is achieved.

Interesting interpretation from Senator Brown-Waite. If I saw a cross made of a man I killed's blood I would think it was a sign from God telling us we were wrong.
